Hydrologic Statement
National Weather Service Pittsburgh PA
1038 AM EST Fri Jan 16 2026

Past 24 hour precipitation...
A trace to a tenth of an inch of liquid equivalent of snow fell
across the region with the highest totals favoring north of interstate
80 and along the higher terrain southeast of Pittsburgh.

Forecast precipitation for the next 48 hours...
Basin average rainfall and/or liquid equivalent of snow is forecast to
range from 0.10 to 0.25 inches with potential for up to 0.50 inches
around the upper Monongahela River Basin. The majority of this
precipitation will fall as snow.

River trends...
Area rivers and streams will see a gradual decline from recent peaks
or maintain steady states over the next 48 hours. Cold temperature
has fostered some ice formation within the Allegheny Basin but is not
expected to accelerate in growth until a colder air mass arrives
Saturday night into the middle of next week.
