D.U.I. Drugs and Possession of Paraphernalia

While on routine patrol, officers noticed a Green Pontiac sedan traveling south on Allegheny Blvd on December 21, 2023 at approximately 8:37 PM. Officers ran the vehicle registration and it came back as suspended. Officers continued to follow the vehicle and noted multiple vehicle in motion indicators.

Upon contact with the driver, Brandon Sires, 31 of Utica, officers noted a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Brandon Sires displayed outward signs of impairment and performed poorly on Standardized Field Sobriety testing. Sires was summarily taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence.

The vehicle was towed from the scene. Upon receiving blood results, Sires was charged with the following through Magistrate Fish:
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration – Summary
