Bad Checks

One June 20, 2022 Stewart Armstrong, 46 of Oil City, entered the True Value Hardware store several times on that day. During each visit Stewart Armstrong would obtain items and write a check for the good and then leave the store. The four checks that he wrote totaled $120.29.

True Value attempted to cash the checks on multiple occasions and found that the checks returned to a frozen/blocked account. The manager spoke with Stewart Armstrong several times in an effort to rectify the situation. Stewart Armstrong stated that he would pay the money he owed. Armstrong failed to pay for any of the goods received and has had no further contact with True Value since then and has not returned any phone calls nor has he signed the paperwork requested.

Stewart Armstrong was charged with the following:
Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Funds Received – Misd 2 (1 count)
Theft by Deception – Misd (1 count)
Bad Checks – Summary (4 counts)
