Hindering Apprehension/Obstruction

The Sugarcreek Borough Police Department had a felony arrest warrant for a known individual and went to the residence at 9 Crestview Drive, Apt 307, Franklin, to serve the warrant.

Upon arrival at the residence Sugarcreek officers knocked and announced themselves. Advising the residents that they were there to arrest the female resident on a felony arrest warrant. Officers heard movement from the inside of the residence and continued to make attempts to speak with a resident. Other indicators were present that the known female was home at the time officers had arrived.

After one and a half hours of knocking and announcing a search warrant was obtained for the residence so that officers could arrest the known female for the felony warrant.

Once inside officer made contact with Steven Ray Bickel, 37 of Franklin, and the known female resident. The known female was taken into custody for the felony arrest warrant.

Steven Ray Bickel was advised the charges would be filed against him for:
Hindering Apprehension and Obstructing Administration of Law – Felony 3
Obstructing the Administration of Law – Misdemeanor 2

Bickel was arraigned before Magistrate Fish on January 10, 2022 and released on a $15,000 unsecure bond.

The preliminary hearing is set for February 2, 2022 at 8:30 AM
