Fraudulent Check

The Sugarcreek Borough Police Department was contacted by an employee of Giant Eagle from an incident that took place on December 1, 2021, that an individual  had cashed a check that was found to be fraudulent.

Upon investigation it was found that Montice Robinson, 39 of Franklin, had cashed a fraudulent check for over $600. The check was found to not be a valid check and the check had been altered.

Sugarcreek Borough Police filed a felony criminal complaint against Montice Robinson and a subsequent arrest warrant was generated.

On December 30, 2021 at approximately 9:45 AM Sugarcreek Police attempted to serve the arrest warrant on Ms. Robinson. After one hour and 30 minutes of knocking and announcing and hearing movement from the inside of the apartment a search warrant for the residence was requested.

The search warrant was approved and Sugarcreek Police were able to place Montice Robinson in custody.

Montice Robinson was arraigned before Magistrate Fish on the following charges.
Forgery – Felony 2 (1 count)
Theft by Unlawful Taking – Misdemeanor 1 (1 count)
Bad Checks – Misdemeanor (1 count)

Bail was set at $10,000. Unable to post bail Montice Robinson was placed into Venango County Jail.

Preliminary hearing is set for January 5, 2022 at 8:30 AM.
