Burglary and Identity Theft

Sugarcreek Borough Police investigated a burglary that occurred on September 18, 2020 at 116 Front Street in Rocky Grove.

Through the course of the investigation the following people were identified as taking part in criminal conspiracy to commit the burglary, criminal trespass, identity theft, and access device fraud.

Steven Haney, 29, Kierney Manson, 28, Gavin Leahy, 23, and Brandon Johnson, 25.

Three of the defendants entered the residence and removed multiple items not belonging to them without the permission or knowledge of the victim. Items that were taken from the residence led to the unauthorized use of an unemployment card. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Manson, Haney and Johnson used the victim’s social security card to change the pin number of the unemployment card so that they could access the funds. Purchases, transfers and withdrawals totaled over $1800.00

Upon Brandon Johnson and Steven Haney being taken into custody, drugs and paraphernalia were found on their person. Charges on these items are pending.

Manson, Haney were charged with Burglary (F1), Criminal Trespass (F3), Theft from a Motor Vehicle (M1), Theft by Unlawful Taking (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (F3), Access Device Fraud (F3) and Identity Theft (F3)

Leahy was charged with Burglary (F1), Criminal Trespass (F3), Theft from a Motor Vehicle (M1), Theft by Unlawful Taking (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (F3).

Johnson was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (F3), Access Device Fraud (F3) and Identity Theft (F3).

Haney was unable to post $7500 straight bail and was placed into Venango County Jail. Johnson was released on $7500 bail.

Manson was arrested on her warrant, she was arraigned and released on $7500 bail.

Leahy did turn himself in and was arraigned and released on $7500 bail.
