The Sugarcreek Borough Police were contacted by a known victim stating that she had been the victim of a known person using her debit card making purchases and money transfers without her authorization.
Sugarcreek Police conducted an investigation and noted that Ashley Pillsbury, 27 of Reno, Pa., had made multiple purchases and money transfers without the authorization of the victim.
Criminal charges were filed against Pillsbury in July 2021. Ms. Pillsbury failed to respond to the summons. Oil City Police were at a known residence when they spotted Pillsbury who gave false identity to police in an effort to avoid being arrested on multiple outstanding warrants. Oil City Police verified the Sugarcreek warrants and took her into custody.
Oil City officers contacted Sugarcreek Police and arrangements were made to meet at a neutral location for an exchange of custody.
Ashley Pillsbury was arraigned before Magistrate Lowrey on February 4, 2022 on the following charges.
Access Device Fraud – Misd.
Theft by Unlawful Taking – Misd.
Pillsbury was lodged into Venango County Jail on $10,000 bail due to her multiple outstanding warrants from three counties and her transient status.
Preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 9, 2022 at 1:30 PM.
