On January 7, 2022, Sugarcreek Borough Police were advised of an alleged strangulation and assault that had taken place at 559 Takitezy Rd. Franklin.
Sugarcreek Borough Police conducted interviews with the known juvenile victim, and other persons involved in the incident.
Upon completion of the investigation Sugarcreek Borough Police had determined that Marco Antonio Perez Garcia, 48 of Franklin, had during the course of an argument, placed his hand around the under chin area of the known juvenile 15-year old victim and squeezed. This pressure resulted in the known juvenile not being able to breath.
Mr. Perez Garcia was contacted by the Sugarcreek Borough Police and arrangements were made so that he could turn himself in to be arraigned.
On January 28, 2022, Mr. Perez Garcia was arraigned before Magistrate Lowrey on the following charges.
Strangulation (Felony 2) 1 count
Simple Assault (Misdemeanor) 1 count
Magistrate Lowrey set bail at $5,000. Mr. Perez Garcia was able to post bail.
Preliminary hearing is set for February 2, 2022 at 8:30 AM at the Venango County Courthouse.
