On May 14, 2021 at 9:30 am Sugarcreek Borough Police Department was dispatched to the area of Rocky Grove Ave and Parker Street for a small child found with no clothes on.
Officers arrived to find a small male child without a diaper on, no shoes, and his feet were covered in dirt. No one was out looking for any child. Officers were knocking on doors and noticed small children’s toys on the front porch of 332 Rocky Grove Ave which turned out to be the defendants residence.
Officer’s knocked with no answer. Officer could hear the TV on. When checked the door was unlocked, but could not be opened far as it was blocked with a large flat screen TV. Officers were yelling for anyone in the residence.
Officers then checked the residence and found that the door to the bedroom was locked from the inside. Officers were able to get the door open and the defendant was found inside sleeping. It was found that the child did belong to him.
CYS was taking the child into protective custody. Zoning was called to the residence for issues involving the residence. Officer viewed broken window pane lying on the ground with broken glass all around the porch and on the small sidewalk.
Trevor Collins stated that he puts the broken TV in front of the front door because his 2 year old can unlock doors and get out. When asked why his bedroom door was locked, Trevor Collins stated that his child was sleeping in the bedroom with him but must have gotten up and locked the door behind him when he got out of the bedroom.
Collins has been charged with Child Endangerment.
