On September 18, 2023 the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department was contacted about a theft of a kayak. Officers then conducted an initial investigation.
On September 23, 2023 police were advised of a possible lead to the theft. Sugarcreek police followed up on the lead and spoke with a resident.
While speaking with Alexander Fry, 22 of Franklin, he provided several false statements as to how he came to possess the kayak. Eventually during his statements Alexander Fry stated that he was lying and then advised of the truth and the fact that he had tampered with the hull tag and launch pass to avoid being caught.
Alexander Fry was charged with the following:
Theft of Moveable Property – Misdemeanor 1
Tampering with Evidence – Misdemeanor 2
Loitering and Prowling – Misdemeanor 1
Charges were filed through Magistrate Kirtland’s office.
