On May 30, 2023 Sugarcreek Borough Police initiated a traffic stop with a vehicle for having a license plate that was registered to a Ford vehicle securely fastened to a Jeep that also showed that it was expired.
Officers made contact with the driver, Jonathan Wright, 40 of Oil City. Through a course of investigation, it was determined that Jonathan Wright was operating a vehicle while DUI suspended.
Jonathan Wright exited the vehicle so that it would be towed. A purse was noted in the vehicle that was attempted to be removed. Upon looking in the open top a THC vape pen with loaded cartridge was immediately apparent. The purse was determined to be the registered owner Ty Bailey, 38 of Franklin.
Officers learned that Jonathan Wright had an outstanding warrant. While being taken into custody Jonathan Wright reached into his pants pocket, removed a glass pipe with residue, dropped it on the ground and then broke it.
Jonathan Wright is charged with the following:
Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence – Misdemeanor 2
Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License – DUI Related and other summary offenses.
Ty Bailey is charged with the following:
Possession of a Controlled Substance – Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Charges against both were filed through Magistrate Fish’s office.
