On June 17, 2021 at 7:25 am officers were monitoring speed in the 700 block of Allegheny Blvd. A maroon truck was observed traveling 63 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. The truck was stopped and the registration was found to be expired as of April 2021.
During the approach of the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, John Beach, 55, officers could smell the strong odor of marijuana. Beach showed multiple signs during SFST testing and was arrested for driving under the influence.
Beach admitted to smoking marijuana earlier and stated that there was marijuana in the truck. Officers found marijuana, burnt marijuana roaches, rolling papers and a grinder.
Beach was charged with the following:
Violation of the Medical Marijuana Act (Misd 3)
Driving Under the Influence of a Schedule I Drug (Misd)
Simple Possession of Marijuana (Misd)
Possession of Paraphernalia (Misd)
Speeding (Sum)
Operation without Valid Registration (Sum)
