On June 21, 2021 Sugarcreek Borough Police were dispatched to a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Causeway Drive and Sugarcreek Drive.
Upon arrival officers noted that the driver, Nico Duprea, 22 of Franklin, had already exited the vehicle. The vehicle had knocked down street signs and caused extensive damage to a guard rail. The result was the vehicle teetering over the embankment in an unstable manner. Officers spoke with Duprea and noted the odor of marijuana and outward signs of impairment.
Field sobriety testing was conducted and Mr. Duprea was taken into custody for driving under the influence of drugs.
While looking for the registration and insurance cards for the vehicle officers found a small plastic bag of marijuana.
Blood results returned for NMS Labs showing that Nico Duprea had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana.
Nico Duprea was charged with the following:
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Misd.
Possession of Marijuana – Misd.
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misd.
Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed – Sum.
