Traffic Stop Leads to DUI/Drugs

On October 31, 2020 Sugarcreek Borough Police Officer was monitoring speed in the 1200 block of Allegheny Blvd.

Officer observed a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander traveling 63 mph in a posted 45 mph zone.

Upon approach to the vehicle officer was able to detect odor of Marijuana.

The driver, Joseph Edward Malone, 31, was evaluated for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and placed under arrest.

Items found in the vehicle included a tupperware container with a small amount of marijuana as well as a glass smoking pipe with residue. The items were seized and logged in as evidence.

Malone was charged with the following via summons:
Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance – Misd.
Simple Possession of Marijuana – Misd.
Possession of Paraphernalia – Misd.
Speeding 63 in a 45 – Sum.
