Possession of Methamphetamine

On October 20, 2020 at approximately 9:09 AM, Steven Haney, 29, was found wearing a red and grey back pack on the back porch of 332 Rocky Grove Ave and taken into custody on a felony burglary warrant issued by Judge Lowrey’s office.

As Haney stood up he allowed the straps of the back pack to drop off his shoulders and the bag fell to the deck of the porch. The bag and Haney were escorted to the police cruiser for a search and transport.

During a pat down of Haney, a clear baggie containing pills and two folded pieces of paper were found in his right upper pocket. The items were secured and Haney was placed in the rear seat of the vehicle.

Once officer and Haney arrived at the Police station, Haney was again searched as was his back pack. During the search of the back pack multiple items of paraphernalia were found including:

8 syringes with needles
1 pink and clear glass smoking bong
1 devil stamp bag
2 glass smoking pipes with residue
1 glass tile with white powder residue

The folded notebook paper containing crystalline powder was NIK tested at 10:38 AM, and tested positive for methamphetamine which is a schedule II narcotic that Haney is neither licensed nor certified to possess.

The white pills labeled 54/411 that were found in the torn baggie were identified through a pill identifier website as Buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is a schedule III narcotic and when asked, Haney indicated that he did not have a current prescription for it.

Haney was charged with 1 count each of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misbranding of Prescription Drugs.
