Access Device Fraud, Obstructing Administration of Justice, False Reports, Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property

On October 31, 2022 at 7:00 PM Sugarcreek Borough Police was dispatched to the Sheetz on Allegheny Blvd. for the report of a female that was in possession of a stolen credit card.

Upon arrival officers spoke with the known victim and the manager who identified the suspect as a female wearing a Steelers jersey with her hair pulled up and in blue jeans. Suspect was in the bathroom and had not left.

Officers were able to make contact with the female who was noted to be changing. The female suspect stated that she had the cards and turned them over to the officers. The suspect then identified herself as Amanda Smith. Upon return to the station the suspect made a written statement and continued to provide the name Amanda Smith and a false date of birth.

The suspect was released based on the fact that there were no outstanding wants or warrants for Amanda Smith with that date of birth. Officers continued the investigation and learned that Amanda Smith was actually Sheila Staab, 44 of Titusville.

Sheila Staab was charged with the following:
Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property – Misdemeanor 2
Access Device Fraud – Misdemeanor 1
False Swearing – Misdemeanor 2
False Reports to Law Enforcement – Misdemeanor 2
Obstructing the Administration of Justice – Misdemeanor 2

Staab was apprehended with the assistance of the Franklin Police Department on November 8, 2022.
