On October 4, 2020 Sugarcreek Borough Police were notified of a retail theft that occurred at the Sheetz on Allegheny Blvd. The actors had left the scene in a silver Jeep headed towards Oil City. Officers made contact with the Jeep at the beginning of the divided section of State Route 8. Upon verifying the registration matched that given by a witness, a traffic stop was conducted in the area of Electralloy in Oil City.
On approach of the vehicle officer was able to detect the odor of burnt marijuana. The driver, Samuel Phillips, 34 of Colorado, was found to be driving with a suspended license out of Colorado. When asked to exit the vehicle Phillips stated that “he can just hand the weed over”.
Officers then approached the passengers in the vehicle. The suspect from the retail theft was identified as Donald Albritton-King, 43 of Oil City, was taken temporarily taken into custody for active warrants and later released. The rear passenger, Sterling King, 26 of Franklin, was observed brushing green leafy material off his jeans. He was taken into custody for outstanding warrants and later released.
The vehicle was impounded, and a search warrant was obtained. During the search a baggie of marijuana was found.
Samuel Phillips was charged with one count of Simple Possession of Marijuana (M) and one count of driving with a suspended license.
Donald Albritton-King was charged with one count of Retail Theft (M) and Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana.
Sterling King was charged with one count of Simple Possession of Marijuana (M).
