On September 29, 2020 Sugarcreek Borough Police Department Officers noted a sedan travelling south on Allegheny Blvd near Front Street that was drifting over the center divider line by 1/3 of the vehicle width and also the fog line with the passenger side almost touching the berm of the roadway. The vehicle speed was also between 25 and 54 mph. The vehicle turned south on Rocky Grove Ave.
A traffic stop was initiated with the vehicle. The driver was identified as Matthew McGarrity, 32 of Tionesta PA. While speaking with the driver officers noted multiple indicators of impairment. A subsequent field sobriety test showed that the driver was impaired.
McGarrity was taken to UPMC Northwest where a blood sample was taken for evidence. The NMS Labs result showed the McGarrity had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of multiple drugs.
The follow charges were filed through Magistrate Lowrey’s office.
