Police took two reports of attempted scams on March 26 and 27, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scam one involved a resident that was attempting to sell a dirt bike on Craigs List. Persons contacted the seller and sent a check VIA UPS for an amount well above the asking price for the bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seller was advised to cash the check and use the extra funds to pay for shipping costs of the bike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigation found that the check is a counterfeit and the seller is not out any money in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second scam involved a resident whom received a check in the mail from “BlueCross BlueShield of Montana” for a substantial amount along with a letter advising the resident they had won a large amount of cash though a lottery and this check was to cover the taxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resident contacted police and is not out any money in this case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents are again advised to be vigilant and not fall victim to these scams. If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
