{"id":739,"date":"2022-12-23T18:35:09","date_gmt":"2022-12-23T23:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sugarcreekborough.us\/press\/?p=739"},"modified":"2022-12-23T18:35:09","modified_gmt":"2022-12-23T23:35:09","slug":"vehicle-speed-restrictions-updated-on-interstates-in-the-northwest-region-i-80-westbound-reopened","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sugarcreekborough.us\/press\/2022\/12\/23\/vehicle-speed-restrictions-updated-on-interstates-in-the-northwest-region-i-80-westbound-reopened\/","title":{"rendered":"Vehicle, Speed Restrictions Updated on Interstates in the Northwest Region  I-80 Westbound Reopened"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the severity of the storm, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has updated temporary speed and vehicle restrictions on interstates in the northwest region of the state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: red;\">The speed reduction and the right lane only for commercial vehicles has been lifted on Interstate 376 in Mercer County.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: red;\">The westbound lanes of Interstate 80 between Exit 29 (Route 8, Franklin) in Venango County to Exit 42 (Route 173, Grove City\/Sandy Lake) in Mercer County are reopened.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.penndot.pa.gov\/TravelInPA\/Winter\/Documents\/CMV-Restriction-Tier-Information-Sign.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.penndot.pa.gov\/TravelInPA\/Winter\/Documents\/CMV-Restriction-Tier-Information-Sign.pdf&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1671924467324000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3jp9hfgrWBttyM-ff5tI6K\">Tier 1 vehicle restriction<\/a>\u00a0with a 45 mph speed reduction and commercial vehicles in the right lane remains in place on the entire length of Interstate 90 in Erie County from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under Tier 1 restrictions, the following vehicles are\u00a0<strong>not permitted<\/strong>\u00a0on affected roadways:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Tractors without\u00a0trailers;<\/li>\n<li>Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded enclosed trailers, open trailers or tank\u00a0trailers;<\/li>\n<li>Tractors towing unloaded or lightly loaded tandem\u00a0trailers;<\/li>\n<li>Enclosed unloaded or lightly loaded cargo delivery trucks\/box trucks that meet the definition of a\u00a0CMV;<\/li>\n<li>Passenger vehicles (cars, SUV\u2019s, pickup trucks, etc.) towing\u00a0trailers;<\/li>\n<li>Recreational vehicles\/motorhomes;<\/li>\n<li>School buses, commercial buses and motor coaches; and<\/li>\n<li>motorcycles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PennDOT is alerting motorists traveling in Erie County to New York to use Interstate 86 at the I-90 interchange. New York has closed I-90 to all vehicles at the Pennsylvania state line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A speed restriction of 45 mph with commercial vehicles in the right lane only is in place on the following interstates:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>Interstate 79, the entire length from Erie County to Exit 78 (Route 19\/Route 228, I-76 Turnpike) in Butler County;<\/li>\n<li>I-80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 212B (I-180 westbound, Williamsport); and<\/li>\n<li>I-86, the entire length in Erie County from the New York state line to the I-90 interchange.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drivers are reminded to continue to use caution while traveling during winter weather conditions and to avoid unnecessary travel whenever possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although PennDOT crews are treating roadways, the department\u2019s primary goal is to keep roads passable, not completely free of ice and snow.
