{"id":102,"date":"2020-04-07T13:05:04","date_gmt":"2020-04-07T17:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sugarcreekborough.us\/press\/?p=102"},"modified":"2020-05-14T10:45:44","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T14:45:44","slug":"project-to-reconstruct-route-8-in-venango-county-to-resume-work-to-begin-with-repairs-to-old-route-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sugarcreekborough.us\/press\/2020\/04\/07\/project-to-reconstruct-route-8-in-venango-county-to-resume-work-to-begin-with-repairs-to-old-route-8\/","title":{"rendered":"Project to Reconstruct Route 8 in Venango County to Resume (Work to Begin with Repairs to Old Route 8)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Work\nis expected to resume next week on Old Route 8 (Route 3013) as part of phase\none of the reconstruction of Route 8 in Sandycreek, Irwin and Victory\ntownships, in Venango County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work in phase one of the project will focus on Old\nRoute 8. It is expected to start April 8, 2020, weather permitting, and to be\ncompleted by April 22, 2020. During this time, the roadway will be closed for\nslide repairs from the intersection with Poverty Valley Road to the\nintersection with Pecan Valley Road. Base repairs will also be made at various\nlocations along the roadway. A detour will be posted using Route 8 and Route 308.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Work in the phases two, three, and four will include\nconcrete patching and paving from Melvin Road (Route 3004) to Georgetown Road\n(Route 3003), milling and paving from Georgetown Road to the Dennison Run Road\nOverpass, and breaking the existing concrete to create a base for a new asphalt\noverlay from Dennison Run Road Overpass to Polk Cutoff Road, as well as repairs\nto Old Route 8 (Route 3013). Work will also include rehabilitation work to\nseven structures, drainage repairs, guiderail replacement and signing\nreplacements.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second phase of the project is expected to start\nApril 23, 2020, weather permitting. All Route 8 southbound traffic will be\ndetoured to Old Route 8 from the intersection of Route 8 and Polk Cutoff Road\nto the intersection of Route 8 and Old Route 8. The phase will start with\ntemporary repairs to the southbound lanes of Route 8. Once those are complete,\nnorthbound traffic will be detoured to the southbound lanes; and reconstruction\nwork will start on the northbound lanes. Traffic is expected to resume its\nregular patterns on Route 8 by late October 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 2021 construction season, the southbound lanes\nwill be reconstructed. All southbound traffic will be detoured to Old Route 8\nfrom the intersection of Route 8 and Polk Cutoff Road to the intersection of\nRoute 8 and Old Route 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the final phase of the project, all northbound and\nsouthbound traffic will be detoured from Route 8 at the southern portion of the\nwork area, and rehabilitation work will be done to the bridge over Georgetown\nRoad, including roadway approaches, deck surfacing and barrier repairs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\ncontractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc, of State College, PA. This project is part\nof critical work that continues statewide addressing safety needs and work\nneeded to eliminate roadway restrictions that could impede the ability for the\nmovement of life sustaining goods and services.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PennDOT urges\nmotorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to\nchanging conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and\nflaggers.
