A $450,000 safety improvement project on Route 8, Route 417, and Deep Hollow Road (Route 3025) in Venango County is scheduled to begin next week.
The project will include the installation of high friction surface treatment on the following roadways:
- Route 8 – From Kaneville Road to Horn Road in Cherrytree Borough, 0.36 miles;
- Route 417 – From Shingledecker Drive to Front Street in Sugarcreek Borough, 0.33 miles; and
- Deep Hollow Road (Route 3025) – From Bredinsburg Road (Route 2006) to First Street in Cranberry Township, 0.62 miles.
The high friction surface treatment will provide pavement friction to vehicles in critical braking or cornering maneuvers, which can help reduce the number of crashes along the stretch of roadway.
Additional work will include base repairs and pavement markings.
Patching work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 7, 2023, weather permitting. The high friction surface treatment cannot be applied until 30 days after patching is complete and is tentatively scheduled to begin on September 22, 2023 and be completed by October 2023.
Motorists should expect lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.
The contractor is Ram Construction Services of Michigan, Inc. of Livonia, MI. The contract cost is $453,450, which is to be paid for entirely with federal funds.
