On July 7, 2021 at 8:51 PM Sugarcreek Borough officers were monitoring traffic in the 2100 block of Allegheny Blvd.
Officers observed a motorcycle traveling at speeds significantly faster than that of the vehicles he was passing.
Officers approached the motorcycle and began a pace with their certified calibrated police vehicle. In the distance required, the motorcycle was paced at 69 mph in a posted and maintained 45 mph speed zone.
A traffic stop was conducted and upon contact with the driver, Michael Todd Shaffer, 37 of Franklin, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Standard field sobriety tests were completed and Shaffer was placed under arrest for suspicion of operating the motorcycle under the influence of alcohol.
Upon receipt of the blood results, Shaffer was charged with the following:

Driving Under the Influence of a Schedule I Drug (Misd.)
Driving Under the Influence of a Combination Drug/Alcohol (Misd.)
Speeding (Sum)
