All lanes of Route 8 southbound are expected to be closed from the intersection of Route 8 and Polk Cutoff Road to the intersection of Route 8 and Old Route 8 in Venango County starting Monday, May 4, 2020.
A detour will be posted using Old Route 8 (Route 3013).
The closure is necessary for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the pavement and bridges along Route 8.
Temporary repairs will be made to the southbound lanes prior to shifting northbound traffic to that section of roadway. The work is expected to take one to two weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Once the repairs are complete, northbound traffic will be detoured to the southbound lanes; and reconstruction work will start on the northbound lanes.
Traffic is expected to resume its regular pattern on Route 8 by late October 2020.
Information on the project is available online at www.penndot.gov/district1 by clicking on the Construction Projects/Roadway link under the Resources heading, picking the Venango County box then choosing the Route 8 Reconstruction Project tile.
