On October 17, 2024 Sugarcreek Borough police were contacted by a witness who reported that he had just witnessed a male strike a juvenile in the face while in the Rural King store located on Allegheny Blvd.
Upon arrival at Rural King officer’s were able to locate the suspect who was still with the juvenile. Upon advising him of the nature of the interaction he stated it was due to the juvenile mouthing off. The juvenile child reported that it caused pain.
Officers reviewed the video and noted the Chadwick Nye, 43 of Franklin, struck the known juvenile victim in the face hard enough that she had to take several steps backward in an effort to maintain her balance. Later in the video it shows he placed his hand on her face and shoved her back.
Chadwick Nye was taken into custody and arraigned before Magistrate Fish on the following charges:
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Felony 3
Simple Assault – Misdemeanor
Disorderly Conduct – Misdemeanor
Chadwick Nye was released on unsecure bail in the amount of $5,000.
Preliminary hearing for Nye is scheduled for October 23, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Venango County Courthouse.
