Sugarcreek Borough Police received a radio dispatch for a male that had stolen merchandise from the Rural King store on Allegheny Blvd and was fleeing the area on a bike.
After checking the area, Sugarcreek Borough Police spoke with the store representative and were able to review security footage and pictures of the suspect. These images were later released to the public for assistance in identification.
An overwhelming response of identification of the suspect was provided by citizens.
Justin James Walters, 29 of Titusville, was arrested for a separate incident that occurred in Oil City, PA. Oil City officers made contact and advised that Justin Walters was in their custody.
Justin Walters was taken into custody by Sugarcreek Borough police and criminal charges were filed.
Justin Walters was charged with the following:
Retail Theft – Felony 3
Receiving Stolen Property – Misdemeanor 1
Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition – Misdemeanor 1
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Misdemeanor
Justin Walters was arraigned before Magistrate Fish. Unable to post the $25,000 bail, Justin Walters was lodged into the Venango County Jail. Preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 23, 2024 at 1:30 pm at the Venango County Courthouse.
