On September 7, 2023 the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department learned new information in regards to the BB gun theft from Rural King. The employees from Rural King were able to gather information about who the individuals are that drove the suspect to and from the Rural King store. The Sugarcreek Borough Police Department was able to obtain an address and phone number for the driver of the vehicle.
The Sugarcreek Borough Police Department called the phone number provided to speak with the driver and was unsuccessful. The Sugarcreek Police went to the address provided and made contact with the homeowner who was also the driver of the vehicle that drove the suspect to and from the Rural King store the day of the BB gun theft.
Upon speaking with the driver the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department asked who the male was that stole the BB gun. The driver stated his name is Dakota. Police asked if he was around and the driver stated he was in the house. The driver then went in the house and told the male that police needed to speak to him. The male then came outside and was asked if he knew why we were here. The male stated it is because I have warrants. Officers stated they were here because of the BB gun theft from Rural King.
The male suspect was asked if he had identification on him that we could see, which he provided. The photo ID he provided matched his description and came back to Dakota Corner, 21 of Meadville, PA. Officers then asked if he still had the BB gun at which time Dakota Corner stated it was inside the house. Officers then advised Dakota Corner that he needed to go get the BB gun and hand it over to Officers which he complied.
Dakota Corner was advised that he would be charged with retail theft. Officers were able to recover the BB gun along with a container of BB’s that was also stolen from Rural King.
