On December 31, 2020 at 9:32 pm Sugarcreek Borough Police were on patrol on Causeway Drive and Sugarcreek Drive when they noticed a blue UTV traveling at a high rate of speed. Neither of these roads are designated as ATV roads.
Officers located the UTV after it had pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of Sugarcreek Drive.
When the officers spoke with the driver the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and other outward signs of impairment were observed.
Jason Lewis, 38 of Sugarcreek, was asked to perform field sobriety testing to which he performed poorly and was taken into custody for the suspicion of DUI.
Lewis’s blood results returned from NMS Labs showing that he had operated the UTV while impaired on Cocaine and an alcoholic beverage.
Lewis was charged with DUI, Driving While Suspended (DUI Related), and multiple summary violations for the operation of the UTV on public roadways.
