A husband and wife were taken into custody on felony charges stemming from an investigation into an incident that occurred in November 2016 at the A Crivelli Ford dealership on Allegheny Blvd.

The couple, James Johnson, 62, and Karen Johnson, 61, both of Bedford, PA, purchased two vehicles for approx $31,000 in a fraudulent manner.

James Johnson was taken into custody on January 4, 2018 in Mifflin County on unrelated charges. His wife Karen Johnson later turned herself into officials on these charges.

Both face charges of Criminal Conspiracy (F), Theft by Unlawful Taking (F), Theft by Deception (F), Retail Theft (F), Bad Checks (M).

James was arraigned before Magistrate Lowrey and bail was set at $50,000. He remains in the Mifflin County Jail.

Karen was transported back to Venango County and arraigned before Magistrate Kirtland and remanded to the Venango County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Both are scheduled for preliminary hearing on January 10, 2018.
